Understanding Boiled Wool

Boiled wool is a special fabric, known for its unique properties.

What is boiled wool?

Boiled wood is a created by agitating woolen fabric in hot water. This process, known as fulling, causes the wool fibres to shrink and interlock, forming a dense, felt-like material. The result is a fabric that’s:

1. Thicker and warmer: the felting process creates a denser material, providing exceptional warmth.

2. Durable: boiled wool is known for its sturdiness and long-lasting quality.

3. Water-resistant: while not waterproof. It offers some resistance to moisture.

4. Breathable: Despite its density, it allows for air circulation, ensuring comfort.

*OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 is a label for textiles tested for harmful substances. It sets the benchmark for textile safety, from yarn to finished product.

**OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 class 1 certification. The highest level, more rigorous for most potentially harmful substances which guaranty even compatibility with direct contact to baby skin.
